A History of D.H.J. Weisters Ltd.The Weisters family has been a leading supplier to the UK clothing industry since 1932. Now in its 4th generation, the firm has grown and changed to respond to 21st century market forces.
The company was started by Godfrey Weisters, who was the 10th son of a German farmer. Godfrey worked for a Silk weaving mill in Krefeld, Germany and was sent to London to work as a sales manager for the company. The Swiss gold crisis of the early 1930s disrupted trade and supply from Europe, so Johann purchased 150 looms and set up a new business of his own.
Since then, production has changed radically from Shuttle looms through to state of the art, high speed computer controlled Rapier looms. With a traditionally skilled workforce of 70 employees, we are genuinely able to offer a high quality and reliable supply of bespoke, high quality woven and printed garments.
A dye-printed factory was opened in 1988, specialising in scarves to which foulard ties were quickly added. The sewing room diversified and now is capable of making a diverse range of garments from Shirts, Ties, Scarves, Waistcoats, Bow Ties and Cummerbunds.
